Step by step

What to do right now

1

Make sure everyone is safe

Move to a safe spot if you can. Call 911 if anyone is hurt or there's a hazard. Your safety comes before paperwork — always.

2

Document everything

Photos of all vehicles, damage, the scene, and license plates. Exchange names, numbers, and insurance info. Note the time, location, and what happened while it's fresh.

3

Report the claim

During business hours, call us at 203-872-9512 — we'll open the claim with your carrier and stay on it. After hours or on weekends, call the 24/7 claims number on your insurance ID card or in your carrier's app.

4

Let us follow up

An adjuster will contact you with next steps and a timeline. If anything stalls or confuses you, call us — advocating for you at claim time is literally our job.

Good to know

Claims questions, answered honestly

Will filing a claim raise my rates?

It can — depending on the type of claim, who was at fault, and your carrier's rules. But not every claim affects your premium. If you're unsure whether to file, call us first at 203-872-9512 and we'll help you weigh it before anything goes on record.

How long does a claim take?

Simple claims (glass, roadside) can resolve in days. Bigger repairs or liability investigations take longer. Your adjuster will give you a timeline — and if it slips, call us and we'll push.

What if it happens at night or on a weekend?

Don't wait for us to open. Call the 24/7 claims number on your insurance ID card or carrier app immediately, then call Flash Insurance during business hours so we can track it for you.

Should I admit fault at the scene?

No. Exchange information and stick to the facts. Fault is determined by the carriers and, if needed, the police report — not at the roadside.

Do I have to use the carrier's preferred shop?

Usually not — in Connecticut you generally have the right to choose your own repair shop. Ask us if you're unsure.

Something happened? Talk to a human.

Call Flash Insurance — we'll open the claim and stay on it with you.
